How much do I feed?

Here are some general rules to help guide you, but there is no perfect way!

An adult dog usually has about 2-3% its body weight but younger dogs require more.

  • 2-3 months old: 8-10% of their current weight
  • 4-5 months old: 6-8% of their current weight
  • 6-8 months old: 4-6% of their current weight
  • 9-12 months old: 2-3% of their current weight

You can use a raw feeding calculator to start. Just select age and weight and it will tell you how much to feed. Here's a great one:

BUT though calculators can give you a good place to start some dogs require more/less based on how active they are and their individual metabolism. So if you feed less or more than recommended but your dog is a good weight & healthy don't worry. You'll naturally work out how much your dog needs over time.
